» What is an example of a law system that we use in America today similar to the Sharia?

Its a common law in USA every one has to abide by a common law however some states have their own laws common to people in that state. This law is different than shariah . From where you found the sharia stuff?? It has become a fashion to creat a product which is shariah compliant. USA's and EU's Investment Bankers need petro dollars back that has been spent to buy crude. Its a marketing technique with which the Muslims get to investments. As shariah law is a law created by Prophets over period of time to safegaurd people from unethical practices in money lending in old times.Which is a fair practice. I am sure this answers your question. The shariah law is simple and straight. The Blue Laws would become closest, but ...... - 2009-07-04

» Pregnancy and Work (School District Union)

I would prefer is somebody answered this question who has experience with unions, school districts or both. My wife is eight weeks pregnant and is working as a first year teacher for a high school in NY. She hasn’t told anybody that she is pregnant yet, because she fears that she will not be asked back next year and of course because it is early to safely tell everybody. There is no way she can hold out until she gets offered a job for next year, so she will have to tell them sooner or later. Today she received an ‘okay’ review but was told she isn’t going the extra mile as some other one year teachers are around her. My wife always goes the extra mile to the point of being ridiculous, but she is extremely tired an...... - 2009-07-04

» what happens with Pentax K1000?

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this -and please note this is not any kind of complain! it's perfectly allright with me! The question is, what does the Pentax K1000 have that it constantly appears mentioned as the first SLR to start learning, the best manual SLR, etc? Sure it's a great camera, won't put it into question (although personally I never tried one), but why it's so insistently claimed as the one to go? why it seems to be TPF's favorite? It's just a mistery to me. In my view, many other cameras (same kind of cameras but from different brands) should be expected to be suggested when new users ask for suggestions, but the K1000 beats them all! constantly! Why not a Nikon FM, a Minolta X-series... why always the sa...... - 2009-07-04

» Calling a Sepcific Frame Using loadMovieNum();

Hope everyone here is having a great day, I have come across an issue which is mainly due to complex structuring of the project that I'm working on. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to call a specific frame of an external movie clip to be played using loadMovie(); or loadMovieNum(); once a button is click. Or is my only way out of this is disecting my external swf into individual movies and load them one by one? Any hint or suggestion will be appreciated. Cheers.just specify a variable on the first frame of the movie you're loading you want to jump to. use a Get parameter when calling the movie and it should set that variable to whatever you passed to it. then just create an onLoad function which will leap to the ...... - 2009-07-04

» History of the Word "Hello" of Hungarian / Magyar Origin "halo"? Linguistics?

Hello, I was in Hungary with my fiancee visiting her relatives, and I had always heard her relatives say "halo" like hello with an 'a', just like the germans say it. Anyways, I just assumed that it was the hungarians copying the germans, as did my fiancee who speaks fluent hungarian. Until the last day of our trip, somehow it came up about the word halo. The Hungarians say "halo" before meeting you as a greeting, and as a goodbye, it means something of "I acknowledge you're there". Anyways, the curiosity of the hungarian usage peaked my interest. » What Guitar Should I Get?

I'm might be getting a new guitar and i can't choose between these: - 12 string acoustic - Ibanez ART 300 - Ibanez RG 350 DX - Yamaha AES Please choose and give a reason. Just so you know the music I play is alternative metal, punk, and a bit of hard rock.The RG 350 DX would be a more versitile guitar for you. But the Art 300 with its active pickups would be a much more aggressive metal guitar. Now if you went with the Art 100, you could save money. So if you are going to mainly play metal and new punk and rock, you want a humbucking pickup, but here is where it changes. Last night I didn't manage to find an Interlacing solution that provided a nice smooth image. Some interlace options were heinously bad with really blocky jumps on parts of the screen. Best was Deinterlace. I'm not sure why XBMC didn't Auto Select any form of deinterlacing though. Actually, I'm not sure XBMC has ever chosen an interlacing option of any kind. A good portion of your body is made out of carbon.Carbon dioxide is a natural and vital component of our atmosphere. Without it there would be no life on this planet at all. Photosynthesis needs it, so all plants and the animals need it for their food. Also, all the oxygen in our atmosphere comes as a by-product of photosynthesis, so there would be nothing for us to breathe. Calling it pollution is simply nonsense, no matter how many political types try to say it is. Workers culled about 6,000 chickens, which were buried over the last 2 days, the report said. The country's last reported H5N1 outbreak occurred in May, according to a World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) report. Meanwhile, a livestock official in Pakistan said yesterday that 45,000 chicks at a breeding operation in the Northwest Frontier province were destroy...... - 2009-07-04

» Going to Shibuya -- need advice

Hi everyone, I am planning my first trip to Japan this November. I am very excited. It will be my 30th birthday. I will be there for probably less than 5 days. I want to go to Shibuya and do some sightseeing there. Since this is my first time in the country and my Japanese is poor, I am worried about getting from the Narita airport to Shibuya. So I have a few questions: What is the easiest + least expensive way to get there for me? Do I have to worry about arriving at night? Or do the trains run 24/7? Is it safe to arrive at night. I haven't booked my flight yet and I am wondering if I should stick to a daytime arrival, so I can avoid getting lost in the middle of the night in a city I have never been to. Do I have to make a...... - 2009-07-04

Just wait. Don't fret. It will probably work. When you see your pores looking smaller then you'll know if it's working. I've never had it though. Sorry! Don't worry though, it's fine!That's Acne Pricking. Stay away from direct sunlight. Never wash face right after the surgery. It would take days and repeated sessions depending on the severity of the acne. Use the products prescribed by the dermatologist for maintenance and never do it for your self. Never heard of it!? Flu Pandemic May Cost World Economy Up to $3 Trillion (Update2) By Jason Gale Oct. 17 (Bloomberg) -- A flu pandemic could kill 71 million people worldwide and push the global economy into a ``major global recession'' costing more than $3 trillion, according to raised estimates by the World Bank (http://www.worldbank.org/) of a worst-case scenario. A slump in tourism, transportation and retail sales, as well as workplace absenteeism and lower productivity caused by a ``severe'' outbreak, may cut global gross domestic product by 4.8 percent, the Washington-based bank said in a report obtained by Bloomberg News. » WW1 alliances and arms race help!?!?

in WW1 how did the alliences lead to the arms race and how do they link? Austro-Hungary was allied with Germany before the war, which is what ultimately lead to the world war as we know it today. Turkey wanted British territory so they joined the Central Powers as well. Serbia was allied with Russia who was allied with France, Great Britain was a bit partial to France to begin with but also had a guarantee of Belgian independence before the war which is what dragged them into the war. The arms race was something that had existed for centuries before the war, though the use of chemical gas and tanks were inventions of the war. Both weapons were designed by forces trying to break the stalemate that was trench warfare. Luckily, the tank ...... - 2009-07-04

» I need to know, How do I recycle old newspapers into rewritable white paper? Please help. ?

Hello- As a Cub Scout activity we "made paper" using old newspapers. We had to grind the paper SUPER FINE in a blender WITH LOTS OF WATER. Then we stapled screen (i.e. from a screen door) around wood frames. The paper needs to be ground up enough that it is suspended in the water in very fine particles, no clumps or little pieces allowed. Then fill a bin with the ground-up-newsprint and water and dunk the frame underneath, like panning for gold. Then slowly lift frame and let mixture sift through. It'll leave a thin layer of fibers in the screen. After drying it came off the screen pretty easily. If leaves a fine texture, but not nearly as flat as printer paper of course. When it dried (over night) it was a light grey - I tried add...... - 2009-07-04

He could have every toy in the room to himself and if I hand Riley a teething ring he wants to take it from her because SHE has it. How do you even begin to teach a toddler to share? » What effects does acetazolamide have on urine pH, blood pH, and respiratory rate?

acetazolamide is a diuretic that blocks the activity of carbonic anhydrase in kidney tubule cells (preventing formation of carbonic acid)Acetazolamide prevents the formation of protons and bicarbonate, so the urine pH would be more basic and the blood would be more acidic. This will increase the respiratory rate to blow off CO2, and return the pH back toward normal. It is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, hence it would block the production of bicarbonate from water and carbondioxide, this would result in the accumulation of bicarbonate ions in the urine and hence URINE WOULD BECOME ACIDIC. So far, Thompson said tests seem to rule out aspergillosis, a fungus infection that initially was thought to be the culprit.
