Is it better run or walk on the treadmill?

  • I walk on the treadmill at level 3.7. Will that burn the fat better than running at level 7 or 6. I was told that running you will lose muscle and fat and if you walk you will just lose the fat and keep your muscle mass. I am 5'6, 29w, 140lbs. I look a lil bulky in the chest area. I want to look more lean and slender.

    It's way easier than being outside. So you want to lose muscle?

    I don't get the point of that.

    Running actually lengthens muscle, it doesn't get rid of it, it just makes the muscle less bulky and more lean.


  • It will be better if you run outdoor
    rather then indoor with the air-con switched on.

    you will sweat more and the work done is more then running on a treadmill.


  • What you were told was correct as running does you more good than walking.


  • To be honest here, running is VERY hard on your joints like your knees and hips and can do damage in the future. Walking is less stressful on the joints. Also, you burn more calories and energy when you walk because it does take more energy to keep yourself grounded when you walk versus running. So, you can walk at a brisk pace and actually burn more calories and fat than you would running for the same length of time.
